Completely Removing / Uninstalling GeoStudio

In this article we explain how to completely uninstall and remove all GeoStudio software components from your computer.

Before You Start

  • This process uninstalls all versions of GeoStudio on the computer.
  • This process assumes the host operating system is Windows 10.
  • If you have online activation licenses installed on the computer, you should return them before starting.
  • This process involves modifying the registry.  You should make a backup of your registry.
  • This process involves actions that require full administrator access to the computer.
  • We highly recommend that you create a system restore point before proceeding.

Uninstall GeoStudio Normally

  1. On the 'Windows Taskbar', click on the 'Start' button (shortcut:  Windows logo key or Ctrl + Esc).
  2. Click on the 'Settings' icon (shortcut: Windows logo key + I).
  3. Select 'Apps'.
  4. In the 'Search this list' text box, search for GeoStudio.  This will list all versions of GeoStudio installed on your computer.
  5. Select each version and click on the 'Uninstall' button.
  6. Follow the prompts to uninstall GeoStudio.
  7. Uninstall all versions of GeoStudio on your computer.

Remove any Remaining Folders

  1. Open 'File Explorer' (shortcut: Ctrl + N).
  2. Navigate to the following folders.  If they exist, delete them:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Macrovision Shared\FlexNet Publisher.
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\GEO-SLOPE.
    • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Macrovision Shared\FlexNet Publisher.
    • C:\Program Files\GEO-SLOPE.
    • C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet.
    • C:\ProgramData\GEO-SLOPE.

Remove any Remaining Registry Entries

  1. On the 'Windows Taskbar', click on the 'Start' button (shortcut:  Windows logo key or Ctrl + Esc).
  2. Open the 'Windows Administrative Tools' folder.
  3. Click on 'Registry Editor'.
  4. Type Ctrl + F to open the find tool to search for the necessary registry entries.
  5. Delete the following registry entries, and their sub-entries, if they exist:
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\FLEXlm License Manager.
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GEO-SLOPE.
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FLEXlm License Manager.
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GEO-SLOPE.
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macrovision.
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\FLEXlm License Manager.
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\GEO-SLOPE.
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Macrovision.
  6. Restart your computer to ensure all changes are in effect.
