This FAQ addresses the most common questions about GeoStudio products when they reach end-of-life and gain legacy status.
Legacy Status
For various reasons, products will eventually reach their natural End-of-Life – including new and better technologies being made available or marketplace changes. When a GeoStudio version reaches End-of-Life, we transition it to a legacy status.
When a version of GeoStudio gains Legacy status:
- There will be no further updates to that version of the software.
- There is no assurance that the software will continue to work with newer operating systems or computers.
- No hardware, installation, licensing, or technical support will be available.
- No engineering support will be available to assist with using the software.
Will my version of GeoStudio stop working after being retired?
- No. Support will be discontinued, but the software will continue to function as long as you have a valid license and the software is installed on a computing platform that your version supports.
I have a perpetual license, can I continue to use it after the software is retired?
- Yes, you can continue using your perpetual license.
- We will no longer provide technical support for any licensing issues you may encounter (i.e. license returns, re-hosting a license to a new host ID, updated license files).
- We will not provide any assistance installing the software.
- We will not provide any assistance downloading license files.
I want to reinstall my legacy version of GeoStudio and continue using it. What do I need to do?
- You will need to download and install your legacy product on a computer with an operating system that was supported at the time your legacy product was released.
- You will need to have the correct license available.
- You may need to install the latest driver and/or license file for USB Dongle licenses.
Can I upgrade my license to a supported version?
- Please contact [email protected] to discuss your upgrade options.
