Effective 2024-07-01, Seequent will introduce updated Annual Maintenance policies for GeoStudio products.

From this date, GeoStudio perpetual licenses that are not current on maintenance will become machine-locked to the computer or server where the software is installed.

This means they cannot be moved to another device or restored to the current device in the event of, but not limited to, software failure, virtual machine re-hosting, formatted hard drive and so forth.

This FAQ addresses the most common questions about GeoStudio products when they reach end-of-life and gain legacy status.

Legacy Status

For various reasons, products will eventually reach their natural End-of-Life – including new and better technologies being made available or marketplace changes.  When a GeoStudio version reaches End-of-Life, we transition it to a legacy status.

When a version of GeoStudio gains Legacy status:

  • There will be no further updates to that version of the software.
  • There is no assurance that the software will continue to work with newer operating systems or computers.
  • No hardware, installation, licensing, or technical support will be available.
  • No engineering support will be available to assist with using the software.

Will my version of GeoStudio stop working after being retired?

  • No.  Support will be discontinued, but the software will continue to function as long as you have a valid license and the software is installed on a computing platform that your version supports.

I have a perpetual license, can I continue to use it after the software is retired?

  • Yes, you can continue using your perpetual license.
  • We will no longer provide technical support for any licensing issues you may encounter (i.e. license returns, re-hosting a license to a new host ID, updated license files).
  • We will not provide any assistance installing the software.
  • We will not provide any assistance downloading license files.

I want to reinstall my legacy version of GeoStudio and continue using it.  What do I need to do?
