Error (601) - Activation was Refused by the Activation Server

In this article we explain the following error that can occur when activating a license in GeoStudio:

(license number): Failed: Activation was refused by the activation server. (Error 601) The server gave this reason: 7288; The activation of the fulfillment is denied by the activation policy for activation id (license number) because Fulfill count exceeded the available seat count.

This error can happen for both standalone and network licenses.

Cause

  • This error message is telling you that your serial number has already been activated on a different computer.

Steps to Resolve

  • If the license was activated using a newer version of GeoStudio, you can find out which other computer the license was activated on by entering your serial number(s) on the form at the following link:

  • Once you know the computer the license is activated on, you can return the license from that computer, making it available for activation on the new computer.
  • *If you are unable to return the license because you no longer have access to the computer holding the license activation, GEOSLOPE support can assist you.
